Continuing the tradition of travelling for Thanksgiving, O'ahu's sandy beaches lured us from across the Pacific. While I had heard many rumors of O'ahu being overbuilt, it was nice to see that it was only in reference to the southern shore. Pearl City, Honolulu, and Waikiki are indeed cities but they only cover a small portion of the island. Almost all of the northern and eastern shores are still quite nice and surprisingly not nearly as crowded as Waikiki Beach which looks like a cross between perpetual spring break, a Japanese honeymoon, and Rodeo Drive.

Everyone does indeed go there for weddings or honeymoons. The scenery was beautiful but the nightlife was somewhat disappointing. The only clubs we found seemed tiny and catered to the over 30 crowd. That's not all bad though, as Bill, Korleen, and I all had a great time hiking over the entire island to find some amazing sights such as Manoa Falls.
